Elina K. Karamatziani

 

Thesis title : Moral issues in organ and body donation

Elina K. Karamatziani is a PhD candidate in Bioethics, Philosophy in the Department of Philosophy-Pedagogy and Psychology of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. The title of her doctoral thesis is: "Organ and body donation as a moral issue". Her research interests are in the field of Ethics and Kantian Perspective. The aim of her thesis is to investigate the moral value of organ and body donation in the light of the three major traditions of morality, virtue, deontological ethics and consequentialism. She is a graduate of the Philosophy Department (Department of Philosophy-Pedagogy and Psychology) of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. In 2011 she obtained a postgraduate Diploma (Master's in Education) in "Theory and Practice of Teaching and Assessment", organised by the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. From 1996 to 2004 she worked as a full time teacher in private schools/institutions and as an educator on an hourly remuneration in public schools. Since 2004 she has been working in Secondary Education as a Philologist at the 4th Senior High School of Galatsi, Athens (Constantine Karatheodoris). She is in charge of the e-Twinning and Erasmus European Programs at the 4th Senior High School of Galatsi, a program which has been awarded with the e-Twinning Quality Label, and for a number of years she was a member of this. In addition, she has coordinated various school twinning programs and has attended a series of conferences and training seminars. Last but not least, she has many interests such as playing the synthesizer, listening to music, dancing, swimming, traveling, writing poems and gymnastics.
